There must be an easier way to find new customers

I dont know about any of you but in these present times i am finding it harder to compete and stay in business without spending a fortune on advertising such as google adwords, i have spent the last 2 yrs updating a and optimizing my website but still no customers, has anyone got any handy tips to get more customers on my website without spending a fortune?

It's a problem we all have! Search results are very important. Make sure you have a lot of relevant links to your website, and make sure your "keywords" are in the content of your website as many times as possible. Besides that ... you have to pay. :(
